Self-Declaration and Certification
Assessment Center
Providing Oversight and Encouragement to Organizations
Self-Declaring Their Quality Management System or Environmental
Management System
The Program:
This program is designed for organizations who have an effective
Quality Management System (QMS) [ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, or other] or Environmental Management System (EMS)
[ISO 14001]and desire to Self-Declare, or Self Certify. This program promotes
effective QMS/EMS administration, and strives to ensure continual
improvement. Our role is to keep you moving in the right direction. We
strive to provide oversight and encouragement to organizations who
Self-Declare or Self-Certify their management systems. Our
program includes measures not found in the standards to assist you in
your continual improvement efforts.
| If you are looking for a cheap, easy way to
avoid the effort required to maintain an effective QMS, or EMS,
then this program IS NOT for you! |

What you're paying for
We assume that it will take about one day to review your
documentation and metrics, and prepare a report. You are basically
paying for that one day. It also covers any quarterly reports you might
submit, and random assessments. The application fee is to cover the
administrative costs to place you in our database, and set up your
account. We think that this amount is quite modest, and strive to ensure
the reports you get from us will contain sufficient information and
guidance to make the amount you pay an relative bargain.

How the Program
Works:
Note: If you have a
customer mandate for 3rd party registration, make sure your customer
will accept Self-Declaration, or Self-Certification before disengaging
your registrar!
Upon application, you will
submit certain documents, data and metrics indicating you have a working, effective QMS
and/or EMS. We review that data, and will respond if we have any
questions, or need any additional data. If the information submitted
indicates you do have an effective system, and there is evidence of your
commitment to maintaining and improving your system, we will send you a
letter of participation.
Note: this program is only available in
the US (at this moment).
Reports:
Yearly Reports:
On a yearly basis, you submit
the required metrics and data, which we review. We will make recommendations based
on this review. If the data and other evidence indicates you are
progressing, you will be be allowed to continue participation. If
there are questions about the data, they must be satisfactorily answered
prior to continuation of your participation. This may require an Assessment
of Concern. The
yearly report is required.
We will analyze the reports,
and provide you a summary of the analysis. This summary may contain an
action plan for your benefit, to enable you to get the most of your QMS
and/or EMS. You are not obligated to take any action on the analysis. It
is provided as a method to assist you in maintaining, and improving, an
effective and efficient QMS and/or EMS.
Quarterly Reports:
You
may submit quarterly reports (but it is not required), and we will
respond to them as well. We encourage you to submit these quarterly
reports, as they can benefit your QMS/EMS effectiveness. You will not be
penalized in any way should you not submit the quarterly reports.
As with the Yearly Reports, we
will analyze them and provide you a summary of the analysis.

Assessments:
There are two types of assessments used in this program. Assessments
are used to ensure we are all working in
the same direction. They are developed as part of the oversight part of
the plan. Failure to allow assessments will result in the revocation of
your Confirmation Letter, and re-application and an Assessment of
Concern will be required for re-instatement.
Random Assessments:
On a random basis, we select organizations for an on-site assessment.
This assessment will be scheduled in advance, so we won't just
"drop" in on you. It will not be like a registrar's audit. It
will only focus on the metrics selected, and your continual improvement
activities. You will not be charged for this assessment.
Assessment of
Concern:
There are two types of Assessment of Concerns. A Stage 1 Assessment
of Concern will occur if you cannot provide adequate data to show
your system is effective. This assessment is similar to the Random
Assessment. A Stage 2 Assessment of Concern occurs when there is
evidence that your system is degrading. This will be very similar to a
registration audit. The organization will be billed for Assessment of
Concerns (Stage 1 and Stage 2), to include travel costs.
Note: this program is only available in
the US (at this moment).
