Theory of Constraints, or TOC is more than just a theory. Goldratt's book "The Goal"*, has created a whole new management system. Basically, TOC frees manufacturing resources by a five step plan to eliminate constraints. But that's all I'm going to say. If you have not read the book, "The Goal"* do it now! "The Goal"* do it now! I recommend it as mandatory reading for all management and labor.
